Information for the 2018 Annual General Membership Meeting and First Annual “Board Awards”

posted: July 26, 2018

Would you like to join the board?

Three (3) existing DCP board members are not seeking re-election for the 2018/2019 Season. All DCP members aged 18 and older (as of August 25, 2018) are eligible for election. If you’ve participated in any DCP show in the last 5 years, congratulations, you’re a member!

Please complete the Nomination Form below to nominate yourself (or a friend!) for the board elections. You may also nominate yourself or someone else at the meeting if you plan on attending. You do not need to be present at the meeting to be voted onto the board, but you do need to be present to have your vote counted.

Proposed Changes to the DCP Constitution and Bylaws

There are several changes proposed this year to the DCP Constitution and Bylaws. Please review the proposed changes as well as the linked documents below to best prepare for the meeting.

Here is a breakdown of the proposal:

  1. Eliminated the “self-insured” section.
  2. All board members must now be at least 18 years old.
  3. Board members can be removed for reasons other than missing meetings
  4. It requires a supermajority of board members to remove a board member.
  5. Many sections moved from the By-Laws to the Constitution. This closes some loopholes and ensures that the board cannot take power from the general membership. The following now require a supermajority vote at a General Membership Meeting to change:
    • DCP shall be governed by parliamentary procedure.
    • Definition of quorum for the board of directors.
    • Specifying a majority vote for passage of motions at board meetings.
    • Defining who may vote at General Membership Meetings.
    • Defining quorum for General Membership Meetings.
    • Specifying a majority vote for passage of motions at General Membership Meetings (except for changes to the constitution.
    • Rescheduling Annual General Membership Meeting if quorum is not achieved.
    • Procedure for changing the constitution.
    • Procedure for changing the by-laws.
  6. The Annual General Membership Meeting can happen outside of fall.
  7. General Membership Meetings now need a majority of the board to be present to achieve quorum.
